Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 Drops Ridged Camera Rings for a Sleeker, Premium Look
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 Drops Ridged Camera Rings, Offering Sleeker and More Refined Design
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 is finally set to debut at the Unpacked event on July 9, and one of the most welcomed changes is the removal of the ridged camera rings, a design element that faced backlash in the Z Fold6. This update marks a shift toward a cleaner, more premium appearance, showing Samsung is responding to user feedback.
Previously introduced with the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Z Fold6, the textured rings—meant to enhance visual appeal—were criticized for looking and feeling cheap. Now, reliable sources like @UniverseIce confirm that the Fold7 will feature a ringless camera setup, making the back panel sleeker and more modern.
Samsung is also dropping the rumored “Saturn Ring” design in favor of a minimalist aesthetic. While the design change is subtle, it adds to the Fold7’s polished finish and might signal broader changes for future flagship models, including the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The Z Fold7 won’t just look better—it’s built for performance. Expected specs include a 200MP main sensor, 12MP ultrawide, and 10MP 3x telephoto lens, all packed into an 8.2mm-thick body when folded. The phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Elite, with One UI 8 based on Android 16. The main display is an 8.2-inch AMOLED, accompanied by a 6.5-inch cover screen. In another notable shift, Samsung is rumored to replace the under-display selfie camera with a standard hole-punch design, likely to boost image clarity.
Samsung’s Unpacked event will also feature the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip7, Galaxy Watch 8, and possibly a first glimpse at the brand’s long-anticipated tri-fold phone.
