Nubia Z60 Ultra Teardown Reveals Unique Camera Design and Efficient Cooling

The eagerly anticipated Nubia Z60 Ultra, ZTE’s latest flagship smartphone, is now available for pre-order in America and Europe, with shipping commencing on December 29. Enthusiasts and tech experts alike are eager to get a closer look at the device’s innovative features, particularly its camera setup. Recently, the team at WekiHome conducted a comprehensive teardown of the special edition inspired by Van Gogh’s The Starry Night, shedding light on the peculiarities of its camera design and efficient cooling system.

Upon dismantling the Nubia Z60 Ultra, the WekiHome team delved into the intriguing aspects of its camera system. The distinctively shaped camera islands, protruding at varying heights, sparked curiosity. The initial step involved removing the glass panel adorned with the iconic swirls. The upper third of the phone housed a tightly packed configuration, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 based motherboard alongside the cameras. Remarkably, the sizeable 6,000mAh battery occupied the space below, devoid of a wireless charging coil. However, engineers prioritized effective heat dissipation, ensuring a dedicated pathway for heat to escape.

One of the standout features of the Nubia Z60 Ultra’s camera setup is the incorporation of Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) across all three modules, including the 100° ultra-wide lens. The strategic spacing of the camera modules was attributed to the potential interference caused by the magnets and coils of each OIS module if placed too closely together. Impressively, the backs of the camera modules were equipped with copper foil, acting as a heat conductor to dissipate the heat generated by modern sensors. In comparison to its predecessor, the Z50 Ultra, the Z60 Ultra boasts a smaller vapor chamber, relying on the efficiency of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 to maintain optimal system temperature.

The Nubia Z60 Ultra’s teardown not only unraveled the intricacies of its camera design but also highlighted the device’s commitment to efficient thermal management. With its unique features and robust specifications, the Z60 Ultra is poised to make waves in the smartphone market.
